Foz do Porto

Ponte da Arabida

Urban Market

2. 到Metro- Casa da Musica轉搭 LINE 203或 LINE 204

Foz, it means the border between the ocean and river in Portuguese. Well-known Douro river nourishes the beautiful Porto, and then flows into Atlantic Ocean.
This region is recognized as gathering of mansions, and you can see many luxury cars or villas. Due to the lack of metro station, public transportation is more inconvenient compared with downtown. Nevertheless, you can still visit here by buses. I recommend taking LINE 500 since it has double-layer type and runs along the riverside. You can just get on the second floor to enjoy the fantastic view. Gradually, you will be also approaching to the seaside, and arrive in neighborhood city- Matosinhos. There are beaches here though the temperature of sea is usually not so pleasant as southern Portugal. But you can also do sunbath near several cafes or restaurants here.

Additionally, you can also come here by Metro + Bus. Get off at Casa da Musica and transfer the bus LINE 203 or LINE 204, and the former one even passes through the renowned modern art museum- Museu de Serralves (I will write an article to introduce it specifically). The disadvantage of these two lines of bus is that they would go around the whole city and it may take some time. However, why not considering it is a chance to do a city tour of residence area :P

If you don’t mind or even have the addiction in walking, along the riverside is an ideal way to soak yourself into the leisure life locals have in Porto. You may see a lot of people jogging, walking the dog, riding the bicycle, or just sitting on the bench to chat if the weather permits. How contented they are, aren’t they J

Av. do Brasil near the sea is a main avenue linking Matosinhos and riverside. There are several cafes and restaurants next to the beach and sea-view. Find an afternoon, order an icy draft beer of SuperBock with peanuts/chips or cold Sangeria, and take a break. You will be supplied by enough energy again and continue your fantastic journey.
